Joan McCook

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Gary McCook. Together they shared 47 wonderful years of marriage until Gary's passing in 2014. Their enduring love and partnership served as the foundation of a close-knit family that brought Joan tremendous pride and joy throughout her life.

She was a devoted mother to Carol Michalowski (Steven), Jeffrey McCook, and Scott McCook. Joan's greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren: Robert, Christy, Danielle, Lori, Casey, Damion, Kylee, and Darion. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Madison, Axton, Alessia, and Roman, each of whom brought a special light to her life.

Joan enjoyed playing Marjon with friends and was a dedicated fan of the New York Islanders, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on her favorite team.

She will be remembered for her loving heart, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home in Hicksville, New York, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m.

A funeral service and interment will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York, where Joan will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Though she will be deeply missed, Joan's love, laughter, and the many memories she created will remain a lasting gift to all who knew and loved her.
