With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Johanna F. Bellitte, who left this world peacefully on September 24, 2025, at the age of 98. A beloved matriarch, Johanna lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Johanna was the devoted wife of the late Vincent Bellitte, with whom she shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2014. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home where love was always abundant, and family was the heart of everything.
She was the loving mother of Joanne Bellitte, Barbara DeVos, Patrice Herzer (Karl), and Salvatore Bellitte (Laurie), and the adoring "Nannie" to her treasured grandchildren: Brent (Katie) DeVos, Eric (Ashley) DeVos, Kurt (Amber) Herzer, Derek Herzer, Michael (Meri) Bellitte, and Melissa Bellitte. Her love and joy continued to the next generation as “Meme” to her cherished great-granddaughters, Ivy and Paige DeVos.
Johanna was a cherished sister to Eleanor Hodson and is now reunited in peace with her brothers, the late Robert and William Allgeier.
A true nurturer at heart, Johanna had a deep affection for her dogs, who brought her companionship and joy throughout her life. She was also a loyal and passionate Mets fan, always cheering on her team with hope and heart.
Above all, Johanna found her greatest joy in simply being with her family. Whether gathered around the kitchen table or celebrating milestones big and small, she lit up every room with her warmth, kindness, and wit. Her legacy lives on in the lives and hearts of those she held dear.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, Hicksville, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Westbury, NY. Interment to follow at The Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
Johanna will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
