So sorry for your loss. I am writing on behalf of my husband John Alejandro who was also an instructor for many years and might have known Mr. Zorn. John also passed away on November 24th, 2018 unexpectantly. 

I was barely 30 years old when I met Joe in 2006.  I was a DEC apprentice instructor and I called him up to ask if I could sit in on his class to watch him teach and learn.  He said, "I'll do one better, you'll teach with me and Bill".  Not only did he allow me to teach parts of the class, even though I had never taught a thing a day in my life, he explained to me off to the side what I did right, what I could do better and encouraged me the whole way through.  He did not correct me in front of the class he let me pass or fail on my own.  He explained the importance of what we do as volunteers and impressed upon me to continue the tradition of hunting and teaching new hunters how to be safe.   I think I helped him with one other class that year but I will forever remember the kind way he helped guide me down the path of becoming a certified instructor.  My thoughts and prayers are with Joe and his family.

I may not have known Joseph personally but I know what his values were being a Dec Hunter  Safety Instructer and time spent to dedicate himself to others and improve the program for younger generations.
