I knew Lance through our local Jamesville, NY church where his parents and siblings attended.  He was a kind, quiet soul and I recall, many years ago now, hearing how much he wanted to get into the veterinary profession.  To read these comments about the care and respect he brought to the profession is heartwarming.  I hope his legacy of kindness and care has carried you forward.

I was so shocked to just learn of Lance's passing.  I remember going to the house in Jamesville.   I'm praying for the whole family.  May you have strength in such a difficult time.  Hold on to the good memories. 

Lance was one of the best diagnosticians I have ever encountered in all my years of caring for horses, goats and llamas.  He was always supportive and was a great teacher and went out of his way to share knowledge with horse owners for the sake of their animals.  I was just telling someone the other day about the year that Lance and Sarah spoke at an all day conference we planned for NSHA years ago where he showed slides of horse injuries that could happen around the barn and how owners could help the horse until the vet could arrive.  We learned so much that day as if we were all sitting in a college lecture hall with a great professor.  A truly wonderful man.  Long Island has lost a kind soul and wonderful veterinarian.

So shocked and saddened to hear of Dr Karcher's passing. He was truly one of the nicest people I knew. I would see him at the dental office regularly every 6 months and always enjoyed hearing about his family and the animals he treated. He adored them. My payers and condolences to his family.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

We remain in great sorrow at the loss of our dear doctor and friend.

Ode from a Friesian:
From Holland I came and who have I met, a doctor named Karcher a sweet gentle Vet.
He was there to handle all that ailed me and as he progressed, he never did fail me.
Now he has gone but I'll never forget the kind gentle soul and the very best Vet.
So now I still stand looking out from my stall, but dear Dr. Karcher, I won't see you this Fall.

I have lost a member of my family. I was blessed to have Dr. Karcher take care of my horses and goats.  He saved my first horse, Sunny Daze, a number of times.  He brought life into my first goat Annie. Dr.  Karcher was there on sad days also when we had to make difficult decisons.  I will forever be thankful to Dr. Karcher.  Paul and I adored him. Such a brilliant man yet so gentle and kind.  Sarah and your daughters, I am so sorry for your loss of Lance.

I am so saddened at Lance's passing. He saved my horse's life and cared for him for several years. Lance was a teacher, and he loved to share his knowledge and thoughts with his clients. His low key approach was always reassuring and helpful, and I always trusted that he could and would help. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. To Sarah and family,
I am shocked and deeply saddened at the passing of Lance. I will miss his kind treatment of my horses, and how he always took the time to explain to me what he was doing and why. He was passionate and caring about his trade, a true professional and a loving family man too. My prayers and condolences to you all.
