

Lawrence William Dixon Jr., aged 74 of Levittown, NY, passed away on September 11th, 2025. Larry born on June 3rd, 1951, and was the oldest son of his predeceased parents, Lawrence, and Ella (Kohler) Dixon. Larry graduated from Hicksville High School in 1969, and enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1969, with honorable discharge in December 1975. Larry worked as an electrician for the Long Island Railroad, retiring in 2002. He was also a dedicated volunteer member of the Wantagh Fire Department for over 20 years, serving in various roles including Firefighter, EMT, and Fire Police. In his later years, he loved spending time volunteering at the Nassau County Firefighters Museum, helping to restore equipment and entertaining visitors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, spending time by the water, telling stories, and having a good laugh.
He will be dearly missed by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Dixon-Pignataro (Umberto), Kathryn Maloney (Ryan), his 5 grandchildren Bella, Mia, Rocco, Ella, and Andrew, and great-grandchild, Nyne. Larry is predeceased by his sister Ellen and will be fondly remembered by his siblings Patti Burton (Richard), Michael, Richard, Russell, and Stephen. Larry will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. In death, he will be reunited with those he loved who passed before him, including his many pets he loved through the years. He will enter heavens’ gates with the smile we have always loved.
Visitation will be held at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, located at 125 W Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801, on September 16, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, located at 3100 Hempstead Tpke, Levittown, NY 11756, on September 17, 2025, at 11:00 am.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center in lieu of flowers.
