Lorraine E. Bates

Lorraine Bates, of Westbury, New York, passed away peacefully in June 2026 at the age of 70. Born in Queens, New York, in June 1956, Lorraine lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family.

Lorraine was a loving and devoted mother to Christopher Bates (Jennifer) and Nicole Gomes (Christopher). Her greatest joy was being "Nannie" to Christopher, Matteo, and Olivia, whom she adored beyond measure. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, creating treasured memories and delighting in spoiling them with endless love.

She was the beloved sister of Felicia (John) and Michele, and a cherished sister-in-law and Brother-in-law. Lorraine was also a loving aunt who held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews.

In her later years, Lorraine found comfort, companionship, and happiness with Mitchell Kupfer, who shared in her life, laughter, and many cherished memories.

Lorraine found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking delicious meals for those she loved, relaxing in the warmth of the sunshine, tending to her garden, and losing herself in a good book. Above all else, her family was the center of her world, and nothing brought her greater happiness than seeing the smiles on the faces of her children and grandchildren.

Though Lorraine will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lorraine's life at a memorial service on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 123 W. Old Country Road, Westbury, NY.
