

Margaret Lorraine Schumacher, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in Brooklyn, New York on January 21, 1930, Margaret lived a life filled with faith, family, love, and service.
Margaret was the cherished wife of the late Bernard Schumacher, with whom she shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised six children: Doug (Maribeth) Schumacher, Teresa (Chuck) Snyder, Jim (Sandy) Schumacher, Thomas (Jonathan) Schumacher, Jeff (Katie) Schumacher, and Craig (Jody) Schumacher. She was the proud and loving "Grandma" to Melissa, Jeanenne (Aaron), Steven (Jen), Laura (Scott), Ryan (Leslie), Keri, Caitlin (JT), Michael, Brian, Jillian, Cece, Kevin, Emma, Sarah, and Layla. Her joy continued with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Nana", Luke, Hudson, Anna, Samuel, Tug, Mazzy, Spencer, Mia, and Annie.
Margaret was a woman of deep faith and generous spirit. A longtime parishioner of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Hicksville, she was instrumental in starting the church's Vacation Bible School, where she shared her love of God with generations of children. She gave selflessly of her time as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered regularly at the Church Food Pantry and the annual Pancake Breakfast, always with a smile and warm heart.
After raising her six children, Margaret returned to the workforce and served as a dedicated teacher’s aide in the Levittown School District for over 25 years. Her kindness and care left a lasting impression on countless students and staff.
Margaret lived life with quiet joy and many passions. She was an avid knitter, enjoyed cross-stitch, ceramics, and reading. A fan of golf and tennis, she also never missed a good game of Bingo, often sharing laughter and friendship with those around her.
Her family was her pride and joy, and her legacy of love, resilience, and faith will live on in the lives of all who knew her.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00–8:00 PM at the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home in Hicksville, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:00 AM at Holy Family RC Church in Hicksville. Margaret will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Bernard at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Margaret's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
