Mary passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020 surrounded by her family. Mary was intelligent, kind, compassionate and devoted to her family. She was witty and comical and loved to cook, travel and read books. Mary was an inspiration to all that met and knew her. Mary was born on February 4, 1927 to the late Mary (DeMeo) and Frank Lonetto. Along with her parents Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Lonetto, her sister Dorothy Lind, her husband, Paul J. and son, Paul D.; She was the loving mother of: Christopher, John, Francis (Sharon), Carmel Agho (Peter), Therese Anderson, and her daughter-in-law, Anna; Loving grandmother of: Kristina, Alicia, Noruwa Agho, Iyoha Agho, Caitlin Scarpa (Robert), Amanda, Michelle and Lucas; and loving Great Grandmother of: Giavanna, Robert Jr. and Dominic Scarpa. She is also survived by many loving cousins and extended family. Mary was born in Brooklyn and was the second of three children; she went to PS 181 and Bushwick High School and earned her BA in English from Brooklyn College; Her first job after college was teaching at the NY Institute for the Education for the Blind on Pelham Parkway in the Bronx. Mary was married to Paul for 53 years before Paul passed in 2008; Mary, was very active in Hicksville SEPTA, the American Council of the Blind, Long Island Council of the Blind, and Catholic Charites - Office of Disabilities Visually Impaired Persons Center. She was a member of St. Ignatius parish for 57 years. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Wildlife Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, American Heart Association or a charity of your choosing. In honor of one of Mary's favorite quotes "We hope you are having fun wherever you are."
