Matt will always be in our hearts,  he and Jean were the best neighbors.  We have so many great memories of time spent together! Matt was always there to lend a helping hand, and helped us when we bought our first house. When he did something, he did it right or he didn't do it at all.  A great man, a great American, a great father and most of all a great friend.

Have a lot of fun memories growing up boating with Mr. Brooks, I was a little young, so we still called him Mr. Brooks. One thing that really stands out in my mind was my first car was a Volkswagen beetle. Mr. Brooks was very into Volkswagen beetles and fixing them up. When I got my Volkswagen, he came over and basically help me and my father rebuild the entire car. He taught us how to do the bodywork, tune, it up, oil changes everything you needed to know about how to keep a Volkswagen beetle running . I was very sorry to hear that Mr. Brooks had passed away and I want to send my sympathies out to his family.

My next-door neighbor, MattyB , 
My mom and dad bought a house next-door to the Brooks family when I was five years old this was 1960. We had a  instant friendship with the Brooks family. We have many great weekends/ boating memories. this man MattyB was friends to all. would help you anyway he could, if you had a problem with anything in your house, Matt would say “bring it over. Let me look at that.” And the next day it was fixed. he and my dad had a very special friendship and bond. He taught my dad and me that you can to do anything with your hands from rebuilding a car, finishing a basement, or even finishing a dormer. This man inspired me to go into my own business .From our family to the Brooks family god bless and Matty B  rest in peace we love you ! Best neighbor ever!!

To the Brooks family,

We will always share fond memories of Matt (Mr. Brooks).  Whether it was just seeing him around the neighborhood, coming over to the house for a visit, or spending time on the beach/water together, Matt was always fun to be around.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to help others whenever or however he could.  We all have many fond memories including going for “garbage” pies and hanging out on the boats in Sand City!  We will all deeply miss Matt and want to share our sympathies with the entire family.
