We are sorry that we never had the pleasure of knowing Niclole except through her parents, Nancy and Lou. From them, we heard stories about their loving, kind, and caring daughter who radiated an inner strength that helped her battle cancer for so many years.

Our hearts are broken for the entire Salera family. May they be comforted by the fond memories of their dear daughter's life and the support of family and friends at this time of sadness.

With our sincere condolences,
Susan & Joe Malaga

Our world is a better place when its members are kind, fun loving, devoted to family and friends, and makes all around them better human beings. That was Nicole. Those of us that met Nicole during her visits to Maui have such fond memories of a loving daughter with the heart of gold. Her laughter and smile was contagious. Even though, she had a serious side to life. She always engaged in interesting conversation about life. I can recall many times 'begging' Nancy to let me come right over as soon as she arrived in town. You could talk with her for hours. I love the entire Salera family and my heart is so sad knowing how difficult this time is for them. May she be at peace and her legacy of living the "right" type of life prevail in our lives.

The following photo is during the holidays when the kids all came to visit their parents in their Maui 'home'.

Nicole... 'coley' Nikki.. As your younger cousin i always looked up to you. Your style, your way to tell a story -so funny! And that smile. So beautiful and soooo cool. I remember when you lived with Grammy and all your amazing clothes, wardrobe racks full of the coolest items any preteen could dream of. I'll miss you cousin and are in my best childhood memories. Watch over us all. We love you

We were not together often, but when we saw each other it was like no time had passed. Like Richie, I have some of my best memories playing with my Nassau County cousins. It was great to connect again as adults. Whether at Aunt Geri's Christmas Party, out for dinner in NYC or playing games by the fire at Frost Valley, you made us laugh and smile. You were my first cousin to become an adult, but an adult who maintained a wonderful, child like innocence. I loved watching the relationship between Nicole and her siblings. There is such love. And, as everyone has said, Nicole's smile could brighten a room. She made you smile too. You will be missed. You are loved. Rest peacefully Cousin Nikki.

Nicole was a great woman and comes from a great family. It was a pleasure being your doorman for the past 3+ years. It was very sad hearing the news that such a nice young woman was taken so early from this life but God willing heaven is waiting for you with open gates because meeting you there again one day would be great ! May you rest with ease Nicole S.

We met in the waiting room at Sloan Kettering in 2004. We were both too young, and too scared to know where we were going, so we held hands and just went blindly together. And that brief encounter will stay with me a lifetime. Beautiful warrior friend, your echo lives on along with that smile wrapped around my broken heart.
