Onedia was predeceased by twelve brothers and sisters, and she now joins her recently deceased great-niece Alexis Josef in eternal peace. She leaves behind her beloved great-great niece and devoted daughter, Malissa Sylver, and her great-great-great niece and nephew, Misha and Aaron Sylver, all of New York. She is also survived by her beloved twin sister Otelia’s children — John Allen, Lillie Allen, and Thomas Allen of Virginia — as well as her great-great nieces and nephews from her older sister Connie Chew: Christopher Giles, Nadijah Musaddiq, Jennifer Giles, and David Giles. She also leaves behind her great-niece’s husband, Robert (Bob) Josef, her great-great nephews Kenny and Robbie Josef, and a large extended family of great nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
A caretaker at heart, Onedia dedicated over 50 years of her life as a domestic worker, lovingly caring for many children and families. She had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and often spent her time in the park listening to music, watching the birds, and enjoying her favorite Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.
A celebration of Onedia’s life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home in Hicksville, New York.
May NeNe’s memory and love forever remain in our hearts.
