Father of Eileen Shultis (Gary), Mary Messina (Frank), Paula Schwarz (Karl), James (Lauren), and the late GMG3 Peter Edward (Iowa 47). Grandfather of Brian (Diana), Gary (Kendra), Christine, Michael (Rachel), Kyle, Kelly and Peter. Great Grandfather of Anna, Alexandria, Gary Lee and Charlie.
Born in Baltimore, Md. To the late John and Mary Bopp. Before he was ten, witnessed the loss of his father, mother, and sister. On a family decision, he and his brother the late Deacon John Bopp of Mattituck, moved to New York and became the wards of their mother’s sister, the late Loretta and Thomas Healey of Malverne
He graduated St. John’s Prep (1950), Brooklyn. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War where he graduated Electronic Tech School, he attended and graduated Pratt Institute School of Engineering (1960).
Paul was a 58 year member of the Levittown Fire Department and had served as Engine 7 Company Secretary. He currently served as the Financial Secretary of the Nassau County Fire Police.
He was the Past Grand Knight of the Holy Innocents Council of the Knights of Columbus and member of the American Legion - Post 1711.
Paul was a 60 year parishioner of Saint Bernard’s Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He was a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 316 and served on the Diocese of Rockville Centre Catholic Committee. He worked with scouts on earning their religious awards and various badges to help them advance in rank.
Paul enjoyed dancing and traveling with GTEV Schlierachtaler Stamm as well as attending many events at the Plattdeutsch.
He enjoyed many aspects of life, but family was his passion. Paul kept in touch with family throughout the country and truly enjoyed telling stories about his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
