
Pedro Janampa, beloved father, grandfather, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, his 91st birthday. He was born on January 8, 1935, in Lima, Peru, where his love for music, dancing, and people first took root.
Pedro made his home in Hicksville, New York, after moving there in 1993. He was a devoted partner and loving companion for over 60 years, a role he cherished deeply. He was the proud and devoted father of Irene Janampa, Isabel Adamkiewicz (Gerald), Ana Cunninghan (Michael), and Ana Brunelle (Lance), and the adoring “Papa Pedro” to his seven grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
The oldest of three children, Pedro was predeceased by both of his sisters. He was known for his warm personality and zest for life. Pedro loved all kinds of music and never missed an opportunity to dance. He had a wonderful sense of style, a great sense of humor, and an easygoing, laid-back nature that made everyone feel comfortable in his presence. A true people person, Pedro was kind, funny, and genuinely enjoyed connecting with others.
Family and friends are invited to visit Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 2:00–4:30 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 11:15 AM at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Hicksville, NY. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
Pedro will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his kindness, warmth, and the joy he brought into the lives of all who knew him.
