Pedro A. Velazquez, born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on March 1, 1932, has passed away at the age of 93 on October 18, 2025. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953, along with six of his brothers, who were all part of the Army’s 65th Infantry famously known as The Borinqueneers.
He is survived by his wife, Luz, his three children, Pedrito Jr., Manny, and Marisol, and his daughter in laws, Midga, Shiela, and Ivette. Also, his son in laws Ramon and Luis. He had six children, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. For COUNTLESS OTHERS, he was known as Papa Peyo.
Visitation will be held at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, located at 125 W Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801, on October 23, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Interment and military honors will take place at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735, on October 24, 2025, beginning at 12:30 pm.
