Robert Bucking

Robert Bucking, 83, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026. Born in Hamburg, Germany on September 28, 1942, to Henny Ullman and Karl Ludwig Bücking, Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Fritz Bucking; his children Donna Montgomery (Chris) and Robert Bucking (Chrissy); and his six grandchildren Darrien, Jillianne, Dylan, Christopher, Amanda, and Michael. He is lovingly remembered alongside his son, Edward Bucking, who passed before him.

As strong as he was gentle, Robert was quick with a joke. He loved his family deeply and showed it every day through his actions, loyalty, and unwavering presence. Robert proudly served as a machinist mate onboard on USS Kankakee in the U.S. Navy and dedicated his career to the Port Washington Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant. In retirement, he enjoyed working as a security guard for the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District, where he was also an alumni.

The viewing will be held at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, located at 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY, on Sunday from 4pm - 8pm, and Monday from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 9pm.

The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 11:15am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 500 South Oyster Bay Road, Hicksville, NY, followed by burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
