Ross and I were very happy to have known Bob and will remember him for years to come. Sharon and Janice, you are in our thoughts and we wish you both peace in your memories of a great man.

Sari and I really enjoyed when Janice and Bob would visit their daughter Sharon. My goodness,  that man loved to fish! It didn’t matter what he caught, as long as something was biting!! Sari loved when Bob introduced her the grapefruit beer! She always called it Bob’s beer and then would  tell the story! We will miss his wit, his humor and his stories. Rest in paradise Mr. Boeckle! We love you!

Bob was one in a million. I only met him as an adult but he was one of the sweetest, kindest people I’ve ever known.  Don’t believe me, how many people do you know who would cross 3 lanes of highway traffic to save a person, one you don’t even know, trapped in a burning car?  Well, Bob did that. It was his nature. He couldn’t stand by & let someone suffer if he could help. 

We had a special friendship. We shared our anniversaries, holidays & just anytime celebrations. In fact we have an anniversary card that we have been sending back & forth to each other for close to 40 years. It may sound silly but it was our special custom, just something friends do. 

Rest in peace dear friend. May your beer stein be ever full & your wine glass bottomless. I will think of you often.

I remember spending every New Year's Eve of my childhood with Bob. I always looked forward to playing with the elaborate Christmas Village he created each holiday season, and all of the trains he'd run around his glowing town. Looking back, I think what I'll miss most is the happiness and warmth I was lucky enough to experience anytime Bob was in the room. Yes, the trains were awesome, but it's the laughter and excitement I felt and heard as soon as we rang his doorbell to start the evening that I couldn't forget if I tried . Seeing how happy Bob and my Dad were each time they were together is something I will never forget. I've truly never witnessed a stronger friendship, and I thank Bob so much for showing me the best example of what true friendship looks like. Death, to me, is not the end of someone. It just changes the way your relationship looks with that person. I'm heartbroken I won't get to spend another New Year's with Bob in person, but I know every year from here out he will still be around. I'll hear his laughter and feel his excitement. And I am absolutely going to put out a model train of my own this year, just for him. May we never, ever, forget Bob Boeckle.

In Memory of Mr. Boeckle:

I remember the first time I visited my dear friend Sharon’s home and met her parents. When we pulled into the driveway, there he was — on the back porch in blue jeans, a white t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and the coolest glasses I had ever seen (though “cool” or “hip” weren’t words I used back then).

Before he even spoke, I had this instant impression of him — confident, relaxed, maybe even a little intimidating. But the moment he opened his mouth, that all shifted. He was calm, welcoming, and wicked smart. He was also far more open-minded and liberal than my own parents, which fascinated me. At an age when most teenagers would rather do anything than hang out with a friend’s dad, I could have talked to him for hours.

He was always “Mr. Boeckle” to me — and still is — though I’m sure he would have preferred I called him by his first name. The whole Boeckle family was kind to me beyond anything I could have imagined. At a time when I was struggling with my own family dynamics, they took me in without hesitation.

Mr. Boeckle’s laugh was magnetic, his generosity boundless, and his presence steady and grounding. He was a true anchor for me during one of the most uncertain times of my life, and for that, I will be forever grateful.  Love you Mr. Boeckle ... thank you for all the Entenmann's.
