As a software engineer who constantly embraced new challenges and adventures, he contributed to the world in dozens of ways. His award-winning work during the 1980s and 1990s set the foundation for much of the technology we now use every day.
In the early 2000s, he teamed up with a group of genealogists to establish one of the largest, digitized indexes of over 16 million genealogical records from the New York area, making the records available to the public for free.
As a model train enthusiast, Robert built an impressive, three-level set designed to capture the spirit of the 1950s, complete with a period-specific drive-in diner, and a subway system that runs just underneath “Bob Town.”
As an avid gardener, he provided his family, neighbors, and friends with fresh produce throughout most of his adult life, until he was no longer able to tend to his plants.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice; daughter, Sharon; son-in-law, TJ; brother, Ken; and sister-in-law, Colleen. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Laura.
