Susan Ferguson

Susan Ferguson, 66, of Hicksville, New York, passed away surrounded by love. She leaves behind her beloved only daughter, Katie, who was the center of her world and the greatest source of pride in her life.

Susan was a strong, loving, and devoted mother who raised Katie as a single parent. She worked tirelessly to give her daughter an amazing life, always putting Katie first while never losing the warmth, humor, and generosity that made her so special. She was not only a mother, but a best friend, a constant source of support, and the person Katie could always count on.

Born to Matthew Ferguson and Joan Foley, Susan was deeply loved by her family. She is survived by her sisters, Diane, Nancy, and Jeanne, who shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love with her.

Susan was also a cherished aunt to Stephen, Brittany, Kris, Jessie, Josh, Shannon, Anthony, Jaymie, Michael, and Mattie, and a beloved great-aunt to Jaxson, Aubrey, Stephen, Benny, Serling, and Anthony. Her family was an important part of her life, and she found joy in the people she loved.

Susan had a remarkable ability to make people feel cared for. She was kind, generous, and always looking for a way to make someone’s day a little brighter. Her generosity often showed up in the most unexpected ways. She loved collecting rocks and crystals, painting them, and leaving them on neighbors’ doorsteps simply to make them smile. She gave without expecting anything in return.

Susan was an adventurer at heart. She loved traveling, hiking, camping, and riding her bike. She hiked the Camino de Santiago, embracing the challenge and adventure of the journey. She followed the Grateful Dead around the country, creating memories and stories that were uniquely her own. Even after being hit while riding her bike, she didn’t let it take away her adventurous spirit—eventually earning herself a stop sign in her honor.

Susan worked in graphic design, a career that reflected her creativity and artistic spirit. Whether she was working, traveling, painting rocks, riding her bike, or simply spending time with the people she loved, she brought her own unique energy and creativity to everything she did.

Susan did not want a traditional wake or funeral. Instead, she wanted her life to be celebrated. In keeping with her wishes, her family will gather to celebrate the incredible life she lived, the people she loved, the adventures she took, and the countless small acts of kindness she left behind.

Susan’s life was not defined by how it ended, but by the love, laughter, adventure, and kindness she gave so freely. She leaves behind a daughter who will carry her love and memory forward, along with sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, friends, and a community whose lives are brighter because she was part of them.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be held at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
