Walter Boehmler

Walter Edward Boehmler, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on October, 11, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on January 8, 1940 to his devoted parents, Otto and Caroline Boehmler.

He shared 62 years with his late wife, Irene. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter and countless memories.

Walter was a devoted father to his children James (Carolyn), Barbara (Mitchell) and Diane (David). He was a loving grandfather to Alyssa (James), Amanda (Gerardo), Tommy (Ivonne), Joey, Daniel, Alex (Gabby), Steven, Katie and Tara. He adored his great granddaughter, Isla.

Walter was a proud U.S. Army veteran and had a 43 year career at the Equitable Life Assurance Company, where he had many great colleagues and friends. He spent time in his retirement volunteering as Treasurer of SPOHNC - Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer.

Walter was the kindest person you would ever want to meet. He dedicated his life to helping people. He appreciated sitting in his backyard with a newspaper and cigar. He enjoyed sudoku, crossword puzzles and a glass of wine.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 4-8pm at the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, located at 125 W. Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY. A final farewell will take place with interment on October 17, 2025, at Locust Valley Cemetery.
