

Albert was born on July 17, 1927 in High Point to Norman and Mary Thomas. Albert graduated from High Point High School in 1945. He soon after joined the Army and served in Japan until 1947. Upon his return from service, he attended Brevard College in 1948. While attending Brevard College, he played on the football and baseball teams. He also played some minor league baseball before returning to High Point. Albert returned home to start his career at Thomas Built Buses. He retired in 1989 after 39 years of service. After his retirement, he moved with wife, Mildred to Ocean Isle Beach where they enjoyed playing golf and fishing. In 2004, they returned to High Point and enjoyed visiting with current and former employees of Thomas Built Buses.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mildred Butler Thomas of the home and Westchester Manor in High Point. Mr. Thomas is also survived by his sons; Bradley Thomas of Leland, NC, Jeffrey Thomas (wife Gwyn) of King, NC, daughter Kathryn Kale (husband Albert) of Conover, NC and stepdaughter Rhonda Barrow of Kernersville, NC, one grandson, Jesse Kale, of Charlotte, NC, granddaughters Tiffany Thomas of Murrell’s Inlet, SC, Brittany Thomas of Myrtle Beach, SC, Morgan Thomas of King, NC and step grandsons Jonathon Hammer of LA Mesa, CA and Ben Barrow of Kernersville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Homes of High Point, Horse and Buddy Therapeutic Riding Program in Apex, NC and First United Methodist Church in High Point, NC.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016, at the High Point Museum, 1859 E Lexington Ave, High Point, NC.
