Algie was born on December 14, 1926 to Sarah Jane Sprayberry Duke and Algie Ronie Duke Sr. He graduated from the GA Institute of Technology in 1956 and retired from Corning Glass Works in 1987 after 23 years of service. He later worked with the Internal Revenue Service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in High Point.
A loving husband and devoted father, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean conflict. Forever a patriot, he was dedicated to his family and to serving others with character, honor, and integrity.
Survivors include his wife, Ann U. Duke; daughters, Susan Duke Garren and husband Bob, Rebecca Ann Duke and husband Andrew Jr. and Patricia Lynn Duke; four grandchildren and one great grandson.
He will be buried with military honors at Salisbury National Cemetery.
