

Mr. Jenkins was born in Statesville, NC on March 27, 1929. He had been a resident of High Point most of his life and was employed by the U.S. Postal Services, retiring in 1986 and operated a tax business for forty years. Mr. Jenkins served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict. A Mason, he was a member of Piedmont Lodge No. 681 and Past Master in 1978. He served as the Eminent Commander, High Priest and Master of the High Point York Rite Bodies. He was an active member of Ward Street United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted. He was a member of the C. B. Barr Class of the church and served as Lay Leader and chairman of various boards. In 1953 he married Marjorie Sexton who preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2005. Surviving are his sisters; Doris Towery of Charleston, SC, Marie Holcomb of Chesapeake, VA and JoAnne Nesselrodt and husband John of Hanover, VA. Also surviving are one niece and six nephews; his cousin, Donnie Jenkins of High Point, and his devoted friends George “Gene” and LaRue Tolbert of High Point. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel on E. Lexington Avenue by the Reverend Bobby Beck. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:30 pm until 8:00 p.m. If desired, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
