

Betty Jane Faison died Friday, March 25, 2022.
Jane was born in Faison, NC to James Elias and Lena Lineberger Faison on March 25, 1929. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Martha Faison Hawley. She is survived by her nieces, Ellen Foster of High Point, NC; Liza Hawley of Philadelphia, PA; and nephew, Faison Hawley of High Point, NC; three great nieces, Cameron Deese, Kathryn Foster, and Olivia Hawley; and great nephew, Sam Hawley.
Jane graduated from Peace College (William Peace University) in 1949 and UNC-CH in 1951 where she received her teaching degree. She taught in NC for a few years and then left home to teach the children of military families assigned to the U.S.Army base in Mannheim, Germany. From this post she quickly became a frequent traveler to places all over Europe. She skied the Alps, visited the countries around the Mediterranean Sea, the British Isles, Russia and the Middle East over the years. Later in life she traveled to the Philippines, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
After a teaching job in Delaware, Jane returned home to Faison to be near her aging parents. After retirement, Jane was very active in local civic organizations as well as the Faison Museum and the Kenansville Museum. She moved to River Landing at Sandy Ridge in Colfax in 2005 to be near her sister, Martha, and her family.

There will be a memorial service in Faison, NC for Jane at a later date.
