Betty Sue Ransom, 80, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 15 at her residence.

Betty Sue was born in Wesser Creek, (Swain County) November 4,1940, a daughter of the late James Luther Styles and Maude Collins. She was a licensed practical nurse for many years, working at several area nursing homes. Betty Sue was a voracious reader, loved thrift store shopping, going to Las Vegas, true crime shows and always knew whodunnit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Frank Ransom and eleven siblings.

Surviving are Jeffrey Ransom and his wife Janet, Susie Goff, Belinda Johnson and her husband Cleve, Abby Emerson and her husband Craig, and Amy Norton and her husband Tray; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Betty Sue's request, no formal services will be held. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

I loved Betty like my own. She was a wonderful person that taught me so much about nursing and life in general.. I will always remember the trips we took, the fun we had and all the memories we shared in and outside of work. She will always hold a special place in my heart. I love you Betty!
