Ruth graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga, TN. She worked for many years in the family business as the bookkeeper, and later in retail sales at Georgia Winery. She was very active in her church and enjoyed singing in the choir at Fairview Baptist Church in Rossville, Georgia. She later joined First Baptist after moving to High Point in 2001. She left many great friends in Georgia and made many more in High Point through the church and activities at the YWCA. Ruth enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Larry Lansford (Candace) and Thomas Lansford, eight grandchildren, Kimberly Neumann, Kevin Lansford, Ashley Lansford, Wyatt Lansford, Kevin Manning, Mark Manning, Jaci Hill, and Hope Trembley; and brother, B.J. Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Reed Lansford and two sons, Richard Clifton Lansford and Floyd Dennis Manning; brothers Edward, Fred and Andrew; sisters, Margaret and Thelma; and also her step-mother, Nannie Lou Watkins.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of High Point, 405 N Main St, High Point, NC 27260 on December 22 at 11:00 AM officiated by Dr. Jeff Rogers. Visitors are welcome to meet with the family in the gathering area of the chapel during the hour before the service.
