Cathy was born January 30, 1967, in Guilford County; a daughter of Sammy Hayes and Catherine "Cat" P. Hopkins.
She loved her two boys David and Daniel and her grandchildren, Waylon and Freya. Cathy worked at Waffle House on and off since 1983. She loved waiting on her customers and was always drawn back to the place she loved. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. She loved dolphins and butterflies. One of her favorite past times was riding motorcycles up in the mountains where she could escape the trials and tribulations of life and be free. Cathy was truly a free spirit that was never meant to be caged!
Preceded in Cathy's death was her father; Sammy Hayes and her grandparents; William Thomas and Annie Pruitt.
Surviving to cherish Cathy's legacy are her fiance Tommy Wright; her two sons; David (Alyshia) and Daniel (Nikki), her mother; Cat Hopkins; her two grandchildren; Waylon and Freya; one sister; Joyce Harp and two brothers: Sammy Hayes, Ron Hayes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Cathy will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 12 noon at Kerwin Baptist Church of Kernersville, NC. The family will receive friends from 11a.m. until the start of the service. The family is under the care of Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations.
