

Mr. Clapp was born in High Point on January 3, 1934 to Clarence and Irma Ritchie Clapp. He retired from North State Telephone Company from the engineering department after 36 years of service. He was a member of Montileu Avenue United Methodist church for many years and recently joined Northwood United Methodist Church. Mr. Clapp was a talented artist and enjoyed working in crafts. He was a generous man who loved his family and children. On August 29, 1953 he married Cynthia Lassiter Clapp who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his daughter; Cindy Murray and husband David of Jamestown; his son, Charles R. Clapp, Jr and wife Yolanda of Omaha, Nebraska; and four grandchildren; Celeste Esparza of Tomball, TX; Justine Clapp of Katy, TX; and Tyler Murray of Wilmington; and Christopher Murray of Jamestown and three great grandchildren: Elijah, Juliet and Jude Esparza all of TX. Mr. Clapp was preceded in death by a brother, C. L. “Johnny” Capp, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Karen Hudson and Reverend Jeff Sypole officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
