
Clarence Edwin “Red” Knight, 90, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020.
Red was born in Guilford County, April 10, 1930, a son of the late Clarence O. Knight and Ethel Mitchell Knight. He was a dairy farmer for 30 years and then drove a truck for Overnight for 45 years. Red was very active in safety rodeos, winning the state title in the 4 axle class three times and finishing 3rd in the national competition. He was active in the 4-H, Future Farmers of America and loved music and dancing. Red was a member of Old Union United Methodist Church and the Guilford College Volunteer Fire Dept. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Barnes Knight, son, Clarence Edwin Knight, Jr. and a step-daughter, Michelle Breedlove.
Surviving are his wife, Patty W. Knight; two sons, Charles Ray Knight and Barry Knight (Leslie); two daughters, Bonnie Anthony (Mike) and Beth Young; four grandchildren, Justin Appenzeller, Rachel Anthony, Aaron Young and Zack Knight; two step-grandchildren, Austin Breedlove and Mallory Jones.
Graveside services will be held a later date. Memorials may be directed to Old Union United Methodist Church. Davis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
