What a High Point treasure ! My most vivid memories stem from when I was organist at Green Street Baptist Church in the 1970's and 1980's where Clarence's strong, accurate, bass voice enhanced the effectiveness of the choir in leading worship. Specifically I remember his bass solos in MESSIAH and in other special musical dramas which the choir memorized . He and Leona invited the choir for Christmas gatherings in their lovely home.....gracious hosts. One December he rang the Salvation Army bell , and of course I could not resist contributing; when I saw Clarence begging me for money, I just had to respond to his pleas. He cast a long, loving shadow over High Point. RIP, Clarence.
