David was born in High Point, June 10, 1959, a son of the late David and Ann Jarrett Thompson.
He graduated from Trinity High School in 1978 and received his associate degree in criminal justice from DCCC. David then began his career in law enforcement with the Thomasville Police Department until his retirement in 1989 due to health issues. He then worked at various jobs before retiring from Pugh Oil Company in 2014. David was known for his quick wit and sharp humour. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was ready to go home.
Surviving are two daughters, Alison Thompson and Brittany Thompson (Chad Haney); five grandchildren, Mackenzie and Ethan Hedrick, Brenden and Everly Thompson and Chloie Haney; two sisters, Connie McQuaigue and Lynda Anderson (Jimmy); and one brother, Lindsay Thompson (Karen); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of David's life will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 at 7 p.m. in the Sechrest-Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jerry Stocks. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 p.m.
