The angels arrived to escort Dell Myers Fritts, 94, to her eternal home on Monday, April 12, to be welcomed into the arms of our saviour Jesus Christ. She was born January 5, 1927 in High Point to the late James and Ella Inscore Myers.
Dell is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Jimmy Fritts who told everyone that he fell in love with her the first time he saw her and loved her throughout their life together. Her parents, sisters Doris Moring, Bettie Murphy and Crystal Daniels, niece Sandra Harbinson, nephews Chuck Harbinson and Thomas McNeil. They were all at the celebration to welcome her home.
Dell spent more than 40 years in the furniture industry and was recognized as an expert in her field. She loved gardening and would spend hours in her yard. She enjoyed her Sunday’s teaching first and second grade Sunday School at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church for 42 years and loved every minute of it. Her Saturday evenings were spent arranging all the materials for her lessons and crafts. Each child was special to her and, if you ask, you will find many who remember Mrs. Fritts as one who was important in leading them to know Jesus Christ.
Dell was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughters, Susan Boling and Dianne Shanks, grandaughter, Machelle Runyon and husband Jeff, great granddaughter, Amber Runyon and great great grandchildren Hayden, JT and Serenity. Her surviving sisters, Lee Harbinson, Gerry Hollingsworth and husband Kenneth, Fran Zimmerman, Faye Payne and husband Dwight. Surviving brothers Frank Myers and wife Cleo and Paul Myers and wife Nora Lee along with many nieces and nephews. She was surrounded by a large and loving family and knew how fortunate she was to have each of them in her life and they all called her special.
Because Dell was in declining health in her final years we are thankful to the many caregivers who cared for her with compassion and love. A special thank you with our love to Sarah who worked tirelessly in the initial transition in Dell's health, Alicia and Mary. Pat and Faith who have been caring for Dell in the final several years with such gentleness and love for their sweet patient and friend, along with the many Hospice caregivers who cared for her through those years as well.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Dell's name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or the Alzheimer's charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are being managed by Sechrest-Davis Funerals & Cremations, 1301 E. Lexington Avenue, High Point, NC.
A graveside service will be held at Floral Gardens Memorial Cemetery on Rotary Drive in High Point on Saturday, April 17 at 1:00PM. Masks are requested.
