Dennis was born in High Point, October 29, 1952; a son of the late Billy Lewis Boyles and Anne Elizabeth Stuart Boyles. Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Adam Lewis Boyles. He was a proud Army veteran, serving as a military police officer. Following his military service, Dennis graduated from High Point College with his B.S. in the spring of 1981. He served his community as a manager for multiple companies; finishing his career as an IT manager with the Wake Forest Baptist Medical School, which he loved. Dennis received numerous awards as voted on by his medical students including: The Charles Brian Clark Award for outstanding service to the class of 2003, the Physician Assistant Program Award for outstanding contributions to the class of 2001, and the Honorary Katherine Anderson Society Award presented by the class of 2002.
Dennis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was in helping others - going out of his way to take care of those around him. He loved adventures of exploration, roads, and maps - setting out to experience all 100 counties of North Carolina - and accomplishing it before the times of MapQuest and GPS; traveling all the scenic highways and byways (usually with his best friend and sweet bride, Linda).
Dennis was instrumental in pioneering the Jamestown Jammers soccer club and was its first Head Soccer Coach, coaching the '76 Jamestown Jammers for many years. He was an avid runner, hiker, reader, and lover of all things mountains - including the Indian Guides of the YMCA with his son - enjoying Camp Cheerio as a Nation Chief. Dennis was a man of integrity - someone that followed through, served without the spotlight, and loved people well. To know Dennis was to love him and laugh at his latest self-created joke. Upon greetings, friends and family could anticipate a warm smile, a joke and some kind of question like, “…have you ever thought about this….?” He was a man of action and those kind, thoughtful actions were above and beyond for all those within his sphere of influence.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Linda Marsan; two daughters, Jessica Hain and her husband Frank, and Joanie Celi Tatar and her husband Ryan; five grandchildren, Samuel Hain, Frankie Grace Hain, Finley Hain, Mason Tatar, and Faith Hain; six siblings, Cathy Williams and her husband Keith, Tim Boyles and his wife Sandy, Tom Boyles, Peter Boyles, Alan Boyles and his wife Michelle, and Chris Boyles, and many nieces and nephews.
