Donna attended High Point Central High School and graduated from Mount Tabor High School in 1969. In 1968, she met the love of her life, Nicky Hendrix, at Myrtle Beach, S.C. They were married on June 27, 1970. Their family began in October 1971 with the birth of their son, Paul Kirk. They welcomed their first daughter, Wendy Lynn in March 1975. Their family was completed in July 1980 with the birth of daughter Olivia Marie.
Donna worked in the furniture industry for 20 years, until she retired to become a full time grandmother in 1994 with the birth of her first grandson, Sebastian. She took care of many children through the years including her honorary grandchildren – Heather, Courtney, and Samantha – as well as her granddaughter Savannah who was born in November 2000. The only grandchild she didn’t take care of was Crystal who was born January 2002, but lived 1,100 miles away in Kansas.
Although Donna loved flowers and plants, she did not have a green thumb. She is often quoted as saying “Grow dammit!”. Donna loved her family and devoted much of her time to spreading happiness and good times. She loved throwing pool parties, having cook outs, and hosting family gatherings. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she often began shopping for presents not long after the holiday ended, occasionally even finding a present in the days and months after Christmas that had already been wrapped.
She loved to travel to many various locations, but Myrtle Beach seemed to be her location of choice for a quick getaway. Her love of travel and of shopping went hand in hand as she would frequently return with “a little something” for everyone. She was a life-long lover of Disney and collected items from Lady and the Tramp as well as Dumbo. Her favorite pastimes in the recent past were watching Big Bang Theory, Friends, and coloring on her tablet.
Donna is survived by husband Nick Hendrix, and children Paul (Cindy) Hendrix, Wendy (Todd) Peeples, and Olivia Hendrix. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Sebastion Stanley, Savannah Rockhold, and Crystal Hendrix, and brother Jack Lee (Linda) Tuttle of Colorado. She was preceded in death by mother and father Alene and Jack Tuttle, and twin grandsons Adam and Abel Hendrix.
