Doris was born on May 13, 1932 in High Point, North Carolina, a daughter to the late, Lillie Hunsucker Byrley and Troy Samuel Byrley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Donald Lewis Johnson, a brother, Clifford F. Byrley, a great grandson, Elijah Randolph Fuller and a step-son, Ted Lee Johnson.
She lived in Guilford County all of her life. Doris attended Allen Jay School in the neighboring Baker Town Community. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church of High Point. The former Doris Byrley married Donald Lewis Johnson on March 15, 1952. Mrs. Johnson was employed at the High Point Paper Box Company, Roses and Gibbs Printing. Doris found a career she truly loved and finished her career as a sales representative for Stanley Homes Products for 36 years of service.
Doris is survived by a daughter, Joyce Cochran of Archdale; a son, Roger Johnson and his wife, Michelle of Trinity; a sister, Ethel Byrley Tucker of Lexington; five grandchildren, Brian Johnson, Kelly Keller, Carrie Cochran, Jeremy and Ryan Johnson; eight great grandchildren, Arlene, Molly, Jake, Audrey, Logan, Amelia, Kelsey and Brandon; and a great-great granddaughter, Rylee. Doris was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by family and many lifelong friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 11 am in the Chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service of Archdale with Rev. Bobby Loving officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Sechrest Funeral Home in Archdale.
