Mrs. Elsie Marie Staley Hopkins, 69, resident of Sophia, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at her home. A resident of this area all of her life, Elsie was born on January 29, 1948 in Randolph County to the late Henry and Alice Staley. For over 28 years, she had worked at Silver Knit Hosiery until her retirement. She then worked in the cleaning business for an additional 10 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 49 years, Robert Larry Hopkins, two sisters, Emma Sue Carter and Nancy Jean Capps, and brother, William Tracy Staley. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Sink and husband Gregory of Sophia; grandchildren, Rachel Quezada, Gail Sink, and Nick Sink; great grandson, Tyler Sink; brother, Darrell Staley; three nieces, Lisa Scott, Terenia Evans, and Gail Anderson; and nephew, T. Lynn Staley. At Elsie’s request, all services will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
