

Emma was born in Guilford County on February 20, 1946 to William Alvin and Rowella Mildred Meris King. She was formerly employed in the shipping department of Polo Ralph Lauren Company. Emma was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Baptist Church in Kernersville. She enjoyed growing her flowers and dearly loved her family. She was preceded in death by a son, Bryant Sutphin.
Surviving are two daughters; Cynthia Edwards and husband Bennett of Winston-Salem and Sharon Sutphin of High Point. There are two sons; Stephen Sutphin and wife Crystal of Thomasville and Phillip Sutphin of Thomasville. Emma has four sisters; Lois Nadine King of Greensboro, Vi Appleton of Greensboro, Faye Mohorn of Greensboro, and Judy Flippin of Oak Ridge, NC and four brothers: Buford King of Greensboro, Odell King of Trinity, William King of Advance, and Ray King of Harrisburg, NC. Also surviving are her loving five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in Calvary Tabernacle Baptist Church in Kernersville by the Reverend David Neese. Interment will follow in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery in High Point. The family will receive friends at Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8:00 p.m. and at other times at her residence in Thomasville.
