Frances Mevelyn Mitchell Easter

1925-2017

Mrs. Mevelyn Mitchell Easter, age 92, a lifetime resident of High Point, NC, passed away December 3, 2017, at Elmcroft Senior Living in Charlotte, NC, where she resided since September 2016 in order to be closer to family.

Mrs. Easter, known to family and friends as "Mitch" was born in High Point, NC on April 7, 1925, to George William Mitchell, Sr. and Frances Jones Mitchell.

She was a graduate of High Point High School and worked for many years at Henley Paper, later retiring from her position as Secretary/Bookkeeper at Fiber Sales Corp.

She attended the John Bender Community Church at Badin Lake, NC.

Mitch enjoyed spending time at her home on Badin Lake, boating, reading and watching televised soap operas.

She loved animals, especially her many faithful Collie companions, and regularly contributed to animal welfare organizations.

Mitch was a devoted Aunt, and always celebrated the birthdays, holidays and special events in the lives of her nephew William "Rick" Mitchell, niece Millicent Mitchell, and great nephew Mitchell Abdullah.

On October 5, 1945, she married the love of her life, Samuel Coe "SC" Easter, who preceded her in death November 2012 after 67 years of marriage.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Elois Mitchell Chatham-Tyson, and brother George William "Bill" Mitchell, Jr.

Mitch is survived by her nephew William "Rick" Mitchell, her niece, Millicent Ann Mitchell, her great nephew, Mitchell "Mitch" Abdullah, and her sister-in-law, Billie R. Mitchell.

The family will receive friends at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E Lexington Ave, High Point, NC 27262 on Wednesday, December 6th from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to a 2:00 p.m. graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of the Piedmont, 4527 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27409, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
