

Mrs. Allen was born in Brooklyn, NY October 3, 1929, a daughter of the late Demetrio and Salvatrice Albano. She and her eleven siblings grew up in Brooklyn, working in the family garment business. In 1946 she married the love of her life, George “Buddy” Allen while he served in the United States Navy. In 1957, they moved to North Carolina. Gloria and her husband then owned and operated Allen’s Airport 66 Service Station from 1968 until 1984. She then worked at Thomas Sales for many years and retired from Jamestown Elementary School cafeteria as head cashier. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband and eleven siblings. She was a longtime member of Green Street Baptist Church and Candice Guy’s Sunday School Class.
Surviving to cherish her memory are five sons, Floyd Allen and wife Susan, Mike Allen and wife Tina, Tom Allen and wife Denise, Ron Allen and wife Sandra, Tony Allen and wife Janet; grandchildren, Mike Allen, Jr. and wife Michele, Keith Allen and wife Amy and their son, Connor, Laura Allen, Brittany Wall, Jason Allen, Jonathan Allen, Austin Allen, Faith Johnson, Spencer Allen and Brandon Flippin.
A Celebration of Gloria’s Life will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Phil Rhynerson. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:30 until 3 p.m. and other times at the home of Floyd and Susan Allen. Memorials may be directed to Green Street Baptist Church.
