Herbert "Herb" Gordon Bullard, age 89, passed away September 20, 2025, at Hospice Home at High Point. He was born March 4, 1936, in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, NC, a son of the late Elton and Letha Bullard.
Herb recently moved to High Point, NC. He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1954 and attended Mars Hill Junior College from 1954 to 1957. Herb served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division from 1958 to 1960. He completed college with a BS Degree from Austin Peay State College in Clarksville, TN in 1962. After graduation, he was employed as the Advertising Manager for Acme Boot Company in Clarksville for 12 1/2 years. He returned to Durham, NC, and worked for the Fisher-Harrison Corporation in sales for 9 1/2 years, then to Glover Printing Company in Raleigh for 16 years. He retired at the end of 1999.
Herb served as President of the Austin Peay National Alumni Association; he served on the Alumni Council of Mars Hill College for four years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Durham, NC, for 50 years, sang in the choir, and “Praisong Ensemble” and the “Men’s Gospel Quartet”, and also served in other various capacities.
In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by son, Eric Bullard; and grandson, Henry Finn.
Survivors are wife, Judith Bullard, of High Point; daughter, Amy Huber and husband Scott of Altamonte Springs, FL; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Bullard of Talbott, TN; stepdaughter, Angela Fernandez and husband Charles of Winston Salem, NC; stepdaughter, Anita Finn and husband Randall of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren, Alexandria Davis and husband Kieran, Zachary, Michael, and Dae Bullard; Sam Huber and wife Kaycee, Charlotte Reeder and husband John, and Johannah Huber; Caleb Fernandez, Caitlin Gonsalves and husband Sam; Abigail Farrell and husband James; and Ellie Finn; two great-grandsons, Felix Reeder and Frankie Davis; and four nieces and two nephews.
A Celebration of Herb's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Durham, 414 Cleveland St, Durham, NC 27701, officiated by Pastor Andy Davis.
