Hester Geneva Snider Kearns, 101, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024.
Hester was born in Denton, May 9, 1922, a daughter of the late Cyrus Dawson Snider and Eula Estella Gallimore Snider. She worked at Slane Hosiery for many years and then Vic's Barbecue and Catering. Hester loved taking care of the farm and gardening. She was still mowing at 96 and had a two acre garden!
Hester was a long-time member of Lebanon United Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer O. Kearns; two sisters, Annie Marie Snider Hicks Dockham and Alice Leah Snider Nash; two brothers, Walter Snider and Joel Snider.
Surviving are two sons, Carey Kearns and his wife Susie and Mark Kearns; a granddaughter, Brandi Kearns; two grandsons, Joshua Kearns and Christopher Kearns and his wife Emily; her four legged companion, Jet; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Hester's life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in the Sechrest Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Joseph Kim. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Mike Craven, Dale Draughn, Anthony Maynard, Brian Sapp, Marty Boggs and Chris Holt. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, High Point or Lebanon United Methodist Church.
