Hester Shelton Owens

On November 29, 2017, it is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Hester Shelton Owens, 84. But, praise to our Lord for guiding her to her heavenly home. There she will be greeted by her parents, Ervin and Florence Shelton, her sister Ethel Miller and her brother Dewey Winford Shelton, plus other family and friends.

On this earth she leaves behind, to meet at a later time, her husband of 65 years, Joseph Calvin Owens, Sr., sister Avis Williams of Glenola, daughter LaBreeska Owens Southard (Randy) of Stokesdale, daughter Montise Owens of Gibsonville, and son Joseph (Joe) Calvin Owens, Jr. (Amanda) of Denton; grandchildren Justin Southard (Katie) of Angier, Brisha Southard Compton (Todd) of Stokesdale, Britney Rayle Vernon (Matt) of Jamestown, Bristey Rayle (finance Zach) of Greensboro, Nikki Owens Spivey (Hayden) of Greensboro and Ross Owens of Archdale. Additionally, Hester was blessed with seven great-grandchildren that were a joy to her life.

The family expresses special and sincere appreciation to the loving caregivers of 1st Choice Home Care of Greensboro who have become family to Hester and Calvin. The family also expresses sincere appreciation to the nurses, doctors and caregivers at High Point Regional Hospital and Hospice of the Piedmont for the exceptional and loving care to Hester and the family these past days.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1st, at Glenola Baptist Church in Archdale. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will then receive friends.
