January 26, 1924October 21, 2018

High Point - Jacqueline Hope Owens Sheeley passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday night, October 21st at Westchester Harbour in High Point. She is survived by her only child, Ron Sheeley of Archdale; grandsons, Alexander Sheeley of Charlotte and Ian Sheeley of Raleigh; and her step grandson, Josh Sebastian of Houston, Texas. “Jackie,” as she was called, had a full wonderful life and was beloved by many that were close to her during her 95 years. Born January 26, l924 in Norfolk, Virginia, Jackie worked at the Southern Bell Telephone Company and sponsored USO dances for sailors during World War II in her teenage years. In 1941, Jackie married Louis Daniel Sheeley: their union lasting until his death 56 years later. She lived in Ohio, Oklahoma, Florida, and North Carolina during her long life and worked for more than 30 years for Bell Communication Systems before retiring to North Carolina. Volunteering for over 15 years at High Point Memorial Hospital was a pleasure for her. In her later years, Jackie traveled to London, Russia, Turkey, Israel, Italy, and many other countries. She was active and attended the Archdale Methodist Church from which she received solace and fellowship. A service for family and friends for Jackie will be at Sechrest Funeral home on East Lexington Avenue in High Point at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 24th with visitation afterwards and a cemetery service at Floral Garden Memorial Park.

Jackie was a very special and generous woman in our lives. She shared the wonders of her foreign travels with us so many times before we moved from Archdale. We were so proud of her when she decided to volunteer at HPRHS. She served so many for so many years and was a blessing. Peace and comfort be be with your family. Blessings be yours always. Jackie and my mother, Mae were friends and would go out to eat every Saturday evening. Jackie, Mother, and myself often went together to church events. Jackie did not drive and mother's driving vision got worse so I started going with them so this weekly event could continue as they looked forward to it. Jackie was such a good friend to mother and myself.
I know she and Mom are enjoying themselves once again!!

Mr. Sheeley,
I'm so saddened to read about your mom. I pray the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind.
Take care,
Roger Sims (undoubtedly your favorite student at Northeast in 1981)
