He graduated from High Point High School and majored in textiles at North Carolina State University. He retired from Highland Yarn Mills Inc. in High Point.
He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Air Force. He was an active member of the Westchester Baptist Church and the Adult IV Coed Sunday School Class in High Point. Richard also was a member of the Y’s Men’s Club.
Richard is survived by his wife Daphine Anderson, a daughter Janice Yow Reddick of Greensboro, his grandson James Franklin Reddick and wife Janet of Kernersville, a brother Grady Ray Anderson and wife Rebecca of Lexington, three nieces and two nephews. He will also be missed by his affectionate Boston Terrier, Dooley.
Richard loved dancing with Daphine in the High Point Twirlers Square Dance Club and the Chair City Square Club in Thomasville.
Services will be on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Sechrest Funeral Chapel. Entombment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, from 6 to 8:30 pm at Sechrest Funeral Services, 1301 East Lexington Ave. in High Point.
