Jamie "Carolyn" Westmoreland, age 86, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at her home. She was born in High Point, NC, on July 3, 1937, the only child of the late James Jacob Fields and Eula Ezada Smith Fields.
Carolyn was adored by her loving parents, especially her daddy who doted on her incessantly. From a young age, Carolyn loved nice clothes and shoes. She never missed an opportunity to own a new pair of shoes, dress up in bling, or share her fashion sense with others. Her taste and love for shopping and thrifting were unrivaled.
Prior to retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper in various administrative support roles in North Carolina and Florida.
Carolyn loved red roses. She loved to antique shop and rehab furniture, well before it became popular. Her taste and love of design always made a wonderful home. She was also a great baker and truly loved to bake for her husband, especially strawberry shortcake. Her most favorite pastime were her grandkids. As an only child, she appreciated having a big family, and loving on her grandkids.
Carolyn considered her life full of joy. She was a devoted wife of fifty-four years to her husband Tommy. She loved her husband deeply and he was the center of her life and purpose until his passing. She loved her family, cared about her friends, and considered her five children her greatest blessings in life. She was steadfast in her love and support of all of them. She raised them to value education, be independent, have a strong sense of purpose, a determined work ethic, and was proud of all their accomplishments.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary Thomas Westmoreland, Bobbi Lynette Brown, Lorri Carol Westmoreland, Sherri Lenise Storey, and Kandi Westmoreland Deitemeyer; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held.
The family is under the care of Sechrest-Davis Funerals & Cremations of High Point.
