Janice Hege Yow Reddick

October 5, 1946May 1, 2021

Janice Yow Reddick, 74, of Greensboro, died Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Hospice Home of the Piedmont in High Point.

Janice was born October 5, 1946, in High Point, N.C., to Warren G. and Daphine Williamson Yow. Her maternal grandparents, D.C. and Eva Williamson, were also key figures in her life during several years when they lived with her. Her mother’s second husband, Richard Anderson, adopted Janice as an adult.

Janice graduated from High Point High School in 1964, then from Guilford College in 1968 with a B.A. in Education. She married Jim Reddick after her sophomore year at Guilford College and gave birth to her son Jay in 1971.

After graduation, she taught third grade in Guilford County Schools. After spending time raising her son, she worked in real estate, managed facilities at Syngenta and worked in sales at Furnitureland South.

Janice lived a life filled with adventure, family and friends. She was the brightest light in any room, and she never met a stranger. In her free time, Janice loved to travel, paint, write, garden, and decorate. She was also devoted to her family and her little Maltese dog, Sugar. At different points in her life, she was active in the Quaker community, both in college and as a member of the New Garden Friends Meeting in her later years. Some of her favorite travel memories included trips to France and Thailand, where she even rode an elephant.

Janice is survived by her devoted mother, Mrs. Richard (Daphine W.) Anderson of High Point, her loving son, James F. (Jay) Reddick and his wife Janet of Orlando, Fla, and her half sister Gay Yow of Gooding, Idaho. She was predeceased by Capt. Warren Yow and Richard Anderson.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Sechrest-Davis chapel, officiated by the Rev. Eric Peacock. The family will receive friends at Sechrest-Davis Funeral Home, 1301 E. Lexington Ave., High Point, prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Private burial will follow at New Garden Friends Meeting Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or the Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL.17, Chicago, IL 60601. Memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at
