JoAnn King

May 11, 1939 – June 11, 2026

JoAnn King, age 87, a woman of deep faith, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 11, 2026. Born on May 11, 1939, in the beautiful mountains of Yancey County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late William Baxter Wilson and Mafra Pate Wilson. She lived a life devoted to her family.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Earl King; her daughters, Terri Glasgow and Janice Watts; her grandson, Anthony Owen King; and her great-grandson, Brandon Haynes.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Tomlinson and Ava Vaught; her son, Tony King, and his wife, Debbie King. She is also survived by her siblings, Bill Wilson and his wife Eileen Wilson, Evoughn Knowles and her husband Ernest Knowles, and Ray Wilson and his wife Wanda Wilson.

Additionally, she leaves behind her grandchildren, Andy Buchanan, Anthony Tomlinson, Becky Link. Alan Vaught, Michael Hatfield, Jason Vaught, Shirley Haynes, Adam Hicks, Jillian Shuler, Donnie Ray Watts, Alex King, Andrew King, and Aaron King; and her great-grandchildren, Brianna Buchanan, Phoebe Link, Heather Link, Dustin Byrd, David Byrd, C.D. Link, Kyle Vaught, Brandon Vaught, Sara Vaught, Elijah Vaught, Eleanor Vaught, Travis Haynes, Brittany Haynes, and Aidan Shuler.

A graveside service will be held Friday, June 19, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Holly Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Funeral services will be presided over by Pastor Jimmy Kiker. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.
