Joanne Patricia Reid Hoover

Joanne was born in High Point on December 29, 1934, daughter of the late John and Flossie Reid. She was the last surviving child of eleven siblings. Although Joanne is with the angels now, she leaves behind her devoted husband of 66 years, Robert “Bob" Hoover. She is survived by her three children; Janet Ellington of Ridgecrest, CA and her husband Kelly; a son, Bob Hoover, Jr. and his wife Sara of High Point; and her youngest daughter and fulltime caregiver Beth Hoover Pruitt, also of High Point. Joanne, known to her family as “Jo-Jo," dearly loved her grandchildren; Lecia Kolaszewski (Joe), Courtney Fletcher (Eric), Chelsea Eikenberg (Scott), Coulter Hoover Pruitt, Chase Thomas Pruitt and Haley Burrell. Jo-Jo was blessed by five great-grandchildren: Price Carol Fletcher; Lilli, Zoe and Vivi Kolaszewski; and Saige Burrell. Joanne also shared a special 50-year friendship with Grace Waldon of High Point.

Joanne and Bob were members of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in High Point and were active with their church family. Joanne was an avid gardener and truly enjoyed creating beautiful landscapes at her home on Gatewood Avenue. In addition to raising their three children, Janet, Bobby and Beth, she was active in the League of Women Voters as well as the Modernettes Club in High Point. Joanne took such great pride in keeping a beautiful home to enjoy with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 17th, in the sanctuary at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in High Point. The family will receive friends in The Asbury Room immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, High Point, to the Memorial Fund or to Hospice House in High Point. A special thank-you to the caring staff of nurses and doctors at UNC Healthcare hospital's ICU Department in High Point and to the staff at Hospice House in High Point for their support, love and compassion.
