

John James Koehne 93 passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Maryfield Nursing Home with his wife by his side holding his hand. He died peacefully with the cross he received from Padre Pio around his neck, his Rosary in his hand and the American Flag draped over his legs. John was a decorated bomber pilot during WWII in the US Army Air Corp. His plane was shot down over Germany during a mission. He survived the crash and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He served his Country and God, and lived his life with great honor, dignity and pride. He will be greatly missed. John was a contract negotiator for the Navy and Marines. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
John is survived by his wife Julia of the home, his children, Judy, Michael, Patrick, Barbara, step- daughters Elizabeth Guecia and Carolyn Sweeney, and many grand and great grand children. He is preceded in death by a son Timothy.
The family would like to send their gratitude and thanks to the Sisters and nursing staff of Maryfield for their prayers, love and care of John.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013, 1:00pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic in High Point, with a visitation 1 hour prior at the church.
