

Johnny Anthony Carteret, 72, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Hospice Home @ High Point.
PaPa was born in Columbus County, February 11, 1953, a son of the late Raymond Cartrette and Elverta Sellers Cartrette. He served in the United States Army for 21 years and then worked with the sheriff's office in Columbia County, GA. Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Carteret, a daughter, Wendy Carteret; a granddaughter, Elizabeth VanTassel; a sister, Gail Whitt and a brother, Ronnie Cartrette. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved fishing and spending as much time with his family as possible. Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Hall (David) and Toni Newsome (Cale); eight grandchildren, Anthony Rivera (Ashley), Gavin Johnson (Ashley), Aidan Johnson (Julie), Patrick Johnson, Reilly Johnson, Megan VanTassel, Tamzyn Hall and Killian Hall; brother, Donnie Cartrette (Nancy); four sisters, Beth Tysinger (Don), Susan Thompson, Kay Cruickshank (Doug), and Rhonda Brandtley (Steven), numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 at 12 p.m.at Fairview Church of Trinity, 6073 Fairview Church Rd., Trinity, NC A Celebration of Tony's life will be held at a later date in Georgia.
