Leona Lucille Leonard McDaniel

Leona Lucille Leonard McDaniel 77 passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 with her family by her side. She was born in Bristol, Tennessee to the late Clyde and Bertha Lola Rogers Leonard. Leona was a very loving and caring mother and friend to all who knew her. She loved the beach, going to yard sales and working in her flower garden. She retired from Slane Hosiery in High Point where she was the first woman fixer in the hosiery business.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jackie from Hospice of High Point and to Dr. Maldonado and his team at Cornerstone Personal Life Care.

Leona is preceded in death by her fiancé Claude “Bill” Settles, brothers Andrew and Chester Leonard, and sister Louise McFarland.

She is survived by her children, J. P. Vestal Jr. and wife Deborah of Asheboro, Mike Vestal Sr. and wife Gerry of Archdale, Charles Settles of Thomasville, Effie Atwell and husband Hugo of Lexington and Gaye Pendleton and husband Charlie of Archdale, brother Paul Leonard and wife Phyllis of Tennessee, sisters Anna Howington of Missouri , Mildred Easterly and husband Ernie of Tennessee and her long time beloved pet Holly. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
