Leslie Evelyn James

She was born in Lumberton on February 26, 1912 a daughter of Wright Jasper and Olif Elizabeth (Bessie)

Biggs Prevatte. She graduated from Campbell College and was an elementary school teacher at Johnson

Street Elementary School in High Point. Mrs. James was a member of First United Methodist Church and

the Women’s Circle.

She was also a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha, an international fraternity for women. She was preceded in

death by her husband, Francis Marion James.

Surviving are her daughter; Sandra J. Snider of Greensboro and two grandchildren; Howard Snider

of Orlando, Fla. and Mary Gafford Adamchik of Louville, KY. Mrs. James has two sisters; Leonel Robeson

of Lumberton and Elizabeth Whitfield of Durham.

A graveside service for Mrs. James will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Floral Garden Park Cemetery

with the Reverend Fran Moran officiating. A Memorial Service will be scheduled for a later date at River

Landing at Sandy Ridge. Memorials may be directed to the Children’s Home Society of N. C. 1002 Yanceyville
